Midnight Interlude Derby Odds
(The Spread) – Thanks to his victory in the Santa Anita, Midnight Interlude might be a mid-range long shot to keep an eye on at the 2011 Kentucky Derby.

Odds: Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL.com listed Midnight Interlude at +2000 on the money line when they released their odds earlier this week. But the 3-year-old colt’s odds have improved and now Midnight Interlude is +1200 on the ML. Dialed In remains the favorite at +250 and now that Uncle Mo has been scratched, Nehro is the second favorite at +700.
Race History: Midnight Interlude is coming off an impressive showing at the Santa Anita Derby (Grade 1), one in which he took first place by beating fellow Kentucky Derby contender Comma To The Top (among others). He also finished first at a MSW on March 20 and second at a MSW on February 26. While he doesn’t have much experience against top competition, his win in the Santa Anita has certainly attracted some attention.
Post Position: Midnight Interlude’s post position could have been better although it could have been much worse as well. He drew the No. 15 post position, which has produced just three Kentucky Derby winners all-time. That said, the No. 17 and No. 19 posts have produced zero winners combined, so again – it could have been worse.
Outlook: Midnight Interlude seems to be improving monthly, so this may be a horse you want to look at to at least finish in the money. With Bob Baffert as his trainer, Midnight Interlude will at least be prepared come Saturday. He’s worth a long look at a nice price.
