Roethlisberger to marry in July
PITTSBURGH, PA (AP) – Ben Roethlisberger is speaking publicly for the first time about his engagement and upcoming wedding to a woman he met at training camp in 2005.
That woman is Ashley Harlan, a 26-year-old physician’s assistant who lives in New Castle, about 45 miles northwest of Pittsburgh.
The 29-year-old Steelers quarterback spoke to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette about his July 23 wedding for a story in Thursday’s editions.
Roethlisberger says he was surprised by how much media attention his engagement to Harlan received when news of it leaked out earlier this year to news media.
Roethlisberger says he expects about 500 people at the wedding. He says they’ll be asked to make donations to his charitable foundation instead of giving gifts.
