The Huskies defeated the Bulldogs 53-41 from Reliant Stadium to end March Madness and give the Huskies 11-straight tournament victories, stemming back to their run through the Big East Tournament.

According to oddsmakers from online sportsbook Bodog.com Connecticut had 35/1 odds to win March Madness entering the tournament, meaning a $100 wager on the Huskies pays out an additional $3,500.

The Huskies held Butler to 12-for-67 shooting (17.9 percent) as the Bulldogs struggled to find the basket all night. Connecticut didn’t shoot much better, going 19-for-63 from the field (30.2 percent) and just 1-for-14 from 3-point land (7.1 percent) but the Huskies had 42 rebounds in the contest.

Alex Oriakhi had 11 points with 10 rebounds to lead Connecticut to the win, while leading scorer Kemba Walker had 16 points and 9 rebounds despite shooting 5-for-21.

Butler came into the tournament with 200/1 odds to win it all, which would have been a $20,000 payout had the Bulldogs prevailed.
