NEW ORLEANS, LA (TheSpread) – The final BCS Bowl Game prior to the national championship is the 2011 Sugar Bowl with No. 6 Ohio State taking on No.8 Arkansas.

Ohio State is 11-1 on the season and 9-2-1 against the point spread odds while Arkansas is 10-2 on the season and 9-2 against the spread. The two teams have combined to go over the point total in 15 of 23 games. Both teams enter the game as wild card bids in the BCS. Trends show that Ohio State has covered the point spread odds in their last eight non-conference games while Arkansas is just 1-4 ATS in their last 5 bowl games.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook Sportsbook.com have given Ohio State point spread odds of -3 against Arkansas on Tuesday night. The over/under total has been set at 57 points. (View Matchup)

Opening odds had Ohio State favored the spread climbed to 3.5 points before dropping back to 3 points. The over/under total opened at 57.5 points and was as high as 58 points and as low as 56.5 points before closing at 57.

Ohio State suffered a 31-18 loss to Wisconsin this season, which was its lone loss of the year. The Buckeyes had news break of star players like Terrelle Pryor and Daniel Herron being suspended for five games next season for selling their memorabilia for cash and favors, but all will be allowed to play in Tuesday’s game. This season, Ohio State has averaged 39.4 points per game and allowed just 13.3 per contest. Pryor has thrown for 2,551 yards and 25 touchdowns while rushing for 639 yards and four scores. Herron has added 1,068 yards rushing with 15 touchdowns.

Arkansas won its last six games of the season despite losses to Alabama and Auburn. The Razorbacks averaged 37.3 points per game on offense while giving up 22.8 points per contest. Arkansas has been led by quarterback Ryan Mallett, who has thrown for 3,592 yards and 30 touchdowns while running back Knile Davis has rushed for 1,183 yards and 13 scores.

In terms of injuries, there is still some question as to the status of the five suspended players for next season but Ohio State coach Jim Tressel says the players will play and those that play will start. For Arkansas, offensive lineman Anthony Oden is questionable for the game due to an illness.

Over 69,100 public bets have been placed on this game with Arkansas getting 62% of the wagers with point spread odds of +3 against Ohio State on Tuesday night.
