GLENDALE, AZ (TheSpread) – No. 25 Connecticut has a chance to prove it belongs in a BCS bowl on Saturday as the Huskies take on No. 9 Oklahoma in the 2011 Fiesta Bowl.

Connecticut is 8-4 on the season and 8-4 against the point spread odds while Oklahoma is 11-2 on the season and 7-6 against the spread. Trends show that Connecticut is 4-0 against the point spread odds in their last 4 games following a win while Oklahoma is 0-4 ATS in their last four bowl games.

Oddsmakers from online sportsbook SBGGLOBAL.com have given Oklahoma point spread odds of -16.5 against Connecticut on Saturday while the over/under total has been set at 54.5 points. (View Matchup)

Opening odds had Oklahoma as a 17.5-point favorite against Connecticut and the spread fell back to 16.5 this week. The over/under total opened at 56 points and has since dropped back to 55 points.

Connecticut won its last five games of the season to win the Big East title and lock up a BCS bowl bid. The Huskies have had three of their four losses come by at least 14 points. The Huskies average 26.9 points and 325 yards per game on offense while giving up 19.8 points and 353.7 yards per game on defense. Connecticut has been led by running back Jordan Todman, who has rushed for 1,574 yards and 14 touchdowns.

Oklahoma won its last four games to take the Big 12 Championship this season. The Sooners suffered two losses, both of which came on the road. Oklahoma averages 36.4 points and 478.1 yards per game on offense while the defense allows 21.9 points and 363.9 yards per game. Quarterback Landry Jones has thrown for 4,289 yards and 35 touchdowns this season to lead the team while Ryan Broyles has caught 118 passes for 1,452 yards and 13 scores.

In terms of injuries, Oklahoma backup running back Roy Finch is doubtful for Saturday’s game with a foot injury while defensive linemen Casey Walker and Daniel Noble are both questionable with knee injuries. Connecticut tackle Greg McKee is suspended for the game while tackle Mike Ryan is questionable with a leg injury.

Over 40,000 public bets have been placed on this game with Oklahoma getting 56% of the wagers with point spread odds of -16.5 against Connecticut.
