NFL Week 8 Injury Report
Before making any wagers this Sunday, make sure you check out our 2010 NFL Week 8 Injury Report. Get the latest on Tony Romo, Brett Favre and Steven Jackson.
The Broncos are relatively healthy for their Week 8 game with the 49ers in London. That said, Brian Dawkins has been dealing with a knee injury, while Robert Ayers has missed practice with a foot injury. For the 49ers, Alex Smith (shoulder) is out, as is center Eric Heitmann (neck). Troy Smith will start for the Niners at quarterback.
David Garrard (concussion) and Trent Edwards (thumb) were both able to practice, although Jack Del Rio has yet to name a starter for Sunday’s game against the Cowboys. Of course, the big news from this game is that Tony Romo (left shoulder) will miss the next 6-8 weeks. Jon Kitna will start in his place.
The Dolphins are healthy, but the Bengals are beat up. Leon Hall (hamstring), Jonathan Joseph (ankle), Chinedum Ndukwe (knee) and Roy Williams (knee) all missed practice this week. Their status is uncertain for this Sunday against Miami.
Jairus Byrd and Terrence McGee either missed practice or were limited for the Bills this week. The Chiefs, on the other hand, are healthy although rookie Dexter McCluster (ankle) was limited in practice.
Matthew Stafford should be back this week for the Lions when they take on the Redskins. Jahvid Best (toe) was limited in practice but should play, as should Louis Delmas (groin). For Washington, Chris Cooley (foot) practiced, although LaRon Landry (Achilles) and Donovan McNabb (hamstring) were limited.
DeAngelo Williams (foot) did not participate in practice this week and might miss Sunday’s game against the Rams. Steven Jackson (finger) did not practice, but should play for St. Louis.
The Packers continue to be one of the most banged up teams in the NFL. Donald Driver (quad) did not practice and neither did Ryan Pickett (ankle). Charles Woodson (toe) was limited in practice, as was Mark Tauscher (shoulder) and Nick Collins (knee). The Jets are well rested coming off their bye, as Darrelle Revis (hamstring) is back to full health.
For the Titans, Vince Young (knee) should be a go after practicing all week, but Tony Brown (knee), Kerry Collins (finger) and Chris Johnson (thigh) did not practice. Antonio Gates (toe), Nate Kaeding (groin) and Malcolm Floyd (hamstring) all missed practice for the Chargers.
Brett Favre’s consecutive starts streak is on the line this week in Foxboro. He says he’ll “give it a shot” but it looks as though Tarvaris Jackson will start for Minnesota. For the Patriots, Fred Taylor (toe) continues to be out and safety Patrick Chung is battling a knee injury.
Aqub Talib (calf) did not practice for the Bucs and neither did Geno Hayes (knee) and Brian Price (pelvis). The Cardinals are relatively healthy and rookie quarterback Max Hall (concussion) should start after missing most of the Seahawks’ game last week.
Several players did not practice for the Seahawks, including Russell Okung (ankle), Kelly Jennings (hamstring) and Brandon Stokley (oblique). For the Raiders, Robert Gallery (calf), Jon Henderson (foot) and Louis Murphy (chest) did not practice. Quarterback Bruce Gradkowski (shoulder) was limited in practice and may not be able to start again this week.
Aaron Smith (triceps) is the biggest concern for the Steelers. He may miss the rest of the season, although head coach Mike Tomlin wouldn’t confirm anything yet. For the Saints, Pierre Thomas (ankle) once again missed practice, as did Reggie Bush (fibula) and Tracy Porter (knee).
