The Volunteers have struggled this year both straight up and against the number. They’re 2-5 overall and have failed to cover in five of their first seven games, including once on the road. They’re also 0-2 away from Knoxville this season.
The Gamecocks, on the other hand, are 5-2 straight up and 4-3 against the number. They’re a perfect 4-0 at home this year and have covered in three of those four games.

Given the clear differences between these two teams in terms of ATS records, it’s hard not to pick South Carolina here. However, Tennessee is 5-1 against the spread in its last six meetings with South Carolina and the road team is 9-3-1 ATS in the last 13 meetings between these two teams. South Carolina has a date with No. 19 Arkansas next week and then plays at Florida on November 13. It would be easy to overlook a struggling Vols team this Saturday, which is exactly what we think they’ll do. We like Tennessee plus the points.
