Game Preview:

Alabama is 13-9 against current Big Ten opponents, with head coach Nick Saban 2-3 against Joe Paterno in his career. The last meeting between the two teams was in 1990, with Penn State winning 9-0.

Alabama opened the season with a 48-3 win over San Jose State. The Tide were without Mark Ingram, which they will likely be without again on Saturday, but that didn’t stop Alabama from racking up 257 yards rushing and 591 yards of offense. Trent Richardson rushed for 66 yards and two scores in replace of Ingram. On defense, Alabama held the Spartans to 175 yards of offense.

Penn State kicked off the season with a 44-14 win over Youngstown State. The Nittany Lions found themselves down 7-3 after one quarter, but then turned up the heat. Penn State went with a true freshman quarterback in Robert Bolden, who threw for 239 yards and two scores on 20-of-29 passing. Penn State amassed just 371 yards while allowing 264.
