2010 College Football Week 1 Recap
The first week of the 2010 College Football Season wrapped up Monday night in a classic between top 10 programs.

The final game of the opening week had No. 3 Boise State edge No. 10 Virginia Tech 33-30 in a highly competitive game at FedEx Field. According to oddsmakers from online sports book BroburySports.com, Boise State was a 1.5-point underdog to win, but a late touchdown pushed the Broncos past the Hokies. 52 percent of public betting went with the Broncos to cover. The over hit in the game as well as the over/under was set at 52.5.
In a surprising cover, No. 18 North Carolina covered a 7.5-point spread against No. 21 LSU on Saturday night. The Tar Heels were without 13 players due to an NCAA investigation and found itself down 30-10 after three quarters, but still manage to lose by just six at 30-24 and even had a chance to win the game on the final play. Just 18 percent of the public bets went with North Carolina with the points.
There were some other surprising covers this weekend, but Miami (Ohio) was perhaps the most surprising as it covered a 38-point spread against No. 4 Florida, losing 34-12. The Gators struggled on offense as quarterback John Brantley couldn’t get into a flow. Miami actually led entering the second quarter. 85 percent of the public bet on Florida to win and cover.
