Sooners big favorites at home
No. 7 Oklahoma is ready to make a run for it all starting Saturday when the Sooners host Utah State at 7PM ET.
Oklahoma is 4-0 all-time against Utah State and have scored at least 49 points in every game. The last meeting saw the Sooners rack up 617 yards of offense. Utah State has lost its last 12 road openers.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBGGLOBAL currently list Oklahoma as 33.5-point favorites at home against Utah State. The over/under has been set at 57.5.
The Sooners have 15 starters back for head coach Bob Stoops, including sophomore quarterback Landry Jones, who was thrown into the fire in 2009, leading the Sooners to an 8-5 record. Jones threw for 3,198 yards and 26 touchdowns in replace of the injured Sam Bradford. Jones had his top four receiving targets back this season and a strong rushing attack behind DeMarco Murray. On defense, Oklahoma has five starters back from a group that allowed just 14.5 points and 273 yards per-game. The Sooners had 38 sacks in 2009 and have two starters back on the defensive line.
Utah State went 4-8 in 2009 under first-year coach Gary Andersen. The Aggies have 17 starters back on the team, including eight on offense. Those two combined for over 4,000 yards of offense. On defense, Utah State allowed 34 points and 455 yards per-game, but have eight starters back. Utah State had a +6 turnover margin, but had just 17 sacks and were beaten easily on the ground (206 yards per-game).
