Gators ready for scoring burst

A Florida team without Tim Tebow may mean more downfield passing, but will it mean the Gators cover a 36-point spread against Miami (Ohio) on Saturday?

Bet Miami Ohio at Florida

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com currently list Florida as 36-point favorites against the Miami. The over/under for the game has been set at 52.5.

Florida was 7-6 against the spread and went under in eight games last season. The Gators have went 3-1 ATS as favorites of 31 points or more and are 7-1 ATS in non-conference games. The Gators scored at least 37 points in all of their non-conference games in 2009.

Miami was 5-7 against the spread in 2009 while hitting the under in seven of 12 games. The RedHawks are 0-2 ATS against SEC opponents and just 1-5 ATS in September games over the last three years. Miami has only been an underdog of this size once sin 1992, and it failed to cover in that game.

This game has a huge spread and it would be easy to just take the points with Miami. The RedHawks have a lot of experience and have to be a better team than a year ago, but Florida is looking to prove a point in this game as they play without Tim Tebow. Florida should be able to throw the ball down the field more and perhaps score more frequently than in year’s past. Look for the Gators to make a statement on Saturday and cover the spread while still hitting the under.
