White Sox 2B Beckham hit on hand, leaves game

CLEVELAND (AP) -White Sox second baseman Gordon Beckham has injured his right hand after being struck by a pitch in the seventh inning against the Indians.
Beckham, who had two hits and has been one of Chicago’s top hitters in the second half, was struck on the back of his hand by rookie reliever Frank Herrmann. Beckham dropped in the batter’s box and was replaced after being checked by Chicago’s trainer and concerned manager Ozzie Guillen.
Beckham was replaced by Brent Lillibridge.
The team had no immediate word on his condition.
In his past 44 games, Beckham has hit .349 with 13 doubles, seven homers and 27 RBIs. He has raised his average from .205 to .257.
