2011 Indy 500 Guide
When will the 95th running of the Indianapolis 500 start? Glad you asked. We’ve put together a viewing guide for the big race at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and will update it leading up to the race.
General Info:
The Indy 500 is a 500-mile race held annually over the Memorial Day weekend at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway in Speedway, Indiana. The race is called The Greatest Spectacle in Racing and is considered one of the Triple Crowns of Motorsports, which also includes the 24 Hours of Le Mans and the Monaco Grand Prix.

TV Broadcast Information: The race will be broadcast live in high definition on ABC beginning at 11:00 a.m. EDT. Brent Musburger will be the host, Marty Reid will cover lap-by-lap duties, and Scott Goodyear and Eddie Cheever will serve as color commentators. The pit reporters will be Jerry Punch, Vince Welch, Jamie Little, and Rick DeBruhl.
More Info: This will be the premier event of the 2011 IZOD IndyCar Series season. The race will be the third of the three-year long Centennial era, celebrating the 100th anniversary of the opening of the Indianapolis Motor Speedway and the 100th anniversary of the first Indy 500 (which took place in 1911).
