No non-BCS school has gotten closer to a national championship than Boise State, but can the Broncos break through and win it all in 2010?

After winning its second BCS bowl game in 2009 and going 14-0, the Broncos return 21 starters with 10 coming on offense and defense each.
Chris Petersen heads up the Broncos for his fifth season and his team is highlighted by Heisman candidate Kellen Moore at quarterback. Moore threw for 3,536 yards and 39 touchdowns with just three interceptions in 2009 to earn Third Team All-America honors.
Moore has his top six receiving targets back this year, led by Titus Young and Austin Pettis, who combined for 24 touchdown receptions last season. Jeremy Avery is also back at running back. He rushed for 1,151 yards and six touchdowns last season while Doug Martin is also back after scoring 15 touchdowns in 2009.
The offensive line is mostly back but the Broncos will see a new face at left tackle in redshirt freshman Charles Leno.
On defense, the Broncos have 10 back from a group that allowed 17.1 points per-game. The only replacement will come at cornerback, where Jamar Taylor takes over for Kyle Wilson.
Ryan Winterswyk is back at defensive end after leading the Broncos with nine sacks in 2009. The entire front seven is back for Boise as the group had 26 sacks in 2009.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SPORTSBETTING.com currently list Boise State as 9/1 to win the 2011 BCS National Championship.
Boise State has a favorable schedule, but has a big-time opener with Virginia Tech to start the season. If the Broncos can get past that game, the door is open for another unbeaten season, and with its reputation, it might be enough to finally get into the title game. Clearly the Broncos have the talent this year and of any team with short odds, they have the easiest schedule. We like Boise State and would certainly consider putting our money down on them to win it all.
