Offensively is where the Badgers should be their strongest, as they have 10 back, led by tailback John Clay who rushed for 1,517 yards with 18 touchdowns to win Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year honors in 2009.
Quarterback Scott Tolzien is back after throwing for 2,706 yards and 16 scores and the entire offensive line is back to aid both Tolzien and Clay. At receiver, Nick Toon leads the way after catching 54 passes for 805 yards and four scores a year ago.
On defense, the Badgers bring back six, led by safety Jay Valai, who was Second Team All-Big Ten a year ago. Linebacker Chris Borland was a Freshman All-American at linebacker after picking up 54 tackles and five sacks in 2009. On the defensive line, J.J. Watt is the lone returning starter. The defensive end had 11 tackles for loss in 2009.
