Philadelphia and

Montreal lines of -110 to win the series, as they consider them betting equals.

The Flyers opened their improbable run with a 4-1 series win over

New Jersey. The Flyers gave up just four goals in the three victories and won two games on the road. In round two,
Philadelphia did the near-impossible by defeating

Boston in seven games after falling behind 3-0. The Flyers were even down 3-0 in game seven, but rallied to win the decisive game, 4-3. In the four wins, the Flyers scored at least four goals in three of the contests and shutout the Bruins in two.

The Canadiens opened the playoffs with an unlikely upset of

Washington in seven games.
Montreal won three games in

Washington to win the series. The Canadiens won three one-goal games in the series. In the semifinals,
Montreal dethroned defending Stanley Cup champion,

Pittsburgh, in seven games. The Canadiens won two games in

Pittsburgh and won the final two games of the series after falling behind 3-2. The Canadiens scored at least three goals in all four of their wins.

In the season series, the teams split four games.
