Michigan at MSU
A great start to the 2009 season could be in jeopardy for No. 22 Michigan, as the Wolverines hit the road for the first time Saturday when they face rival Michigan State at Noon ET from Spartan Stadium.

Michigan has started 4-0 on the year and 1-0 in the Big Ten Conference thanks to a 36-33 win over Indiana last weekend. In the win, the Wolverines trailed the Hooisers for most of the game, but Tate Forcier led Michigan on a late touchdown drive, as he hit Martavious Odoms on a 28-yard touchdown pass for the win. Forcier bruised his shoulder in the win, but is expected to play Saturday. On the year, Forcier has thrown for 671 yards and seven touchdowns while he joins Brandon Minor, Denard Robinson, and Carlos Brown as Wolverines that have rushed for over 125 yards on the season. Brown leads the rushing attack with 321 yards and three scores. Michigan currently ranks first in the Big Ten in points per-game and rushing yards, with 961. Defensively, the Wolverines have struggled, ranking third to last in the conference in passing yards allowed with 975.
Michigan State had high hopes to be ranked at this point of the season, but a 29-27 loss at home to MAC foe Central Michigan, started a downward spiral for the Spartans as they have since lost to Notre Dame and Wisconsin by single digits to drop to 1-3 on the year. The Spartans are still working on finding a quarterback, as Kirk Cousins and Keith Nichol have split time at the position. Cousins has 850 yards and seven touchdowns while Nichol has 403 yards and five scores. The real issue for MSU has been in the rushing game, where it ranks second to last in the Big Ten with 471 yards in four games. MSU is tops in the conference in passing yards, but ranks last in the Big Ten in passing yards allowed at 997 through four games.
