This battle of ACC foes gives the Hokies a chance to get back into the top 10 after losing to Alabama in the season opener, while the Hurricanes are trying to prove they are for real by beating their third-straight ranked opponent.

Miami
opened the season with a 38-34 win at Florida State and followed it with a 33-17 win over Georgia Tech last Thursday at home. Now, Randy Shannon brings in his Hurricanes to another hostile environment in

Blacksburg
.

Miami
defeated Virginia Tech last year 16-14, and this season, quarterback Jacory Harris has emerged as a Heisman candidate through two games. Harris has thrown for 656 yards and five touchdowns on 41-of-59 passing. Harris has spread the wealth in the passing game, throwing to 12 different receivers on the season. The Hurricanes lead the ACC in yards per-game but are amongst the bottom half of the conference in defense statistics, mostly due to the difficulty of the schedule.

The Hokies lost 34-24 to
Alabama in the opener but have followed up with a 52-10 win over
Marshall and a 16-15 win at home against

Nebraska
last weekend. The Hokies have yet to hit the road, but are facing their third ranked opponent on the season on Saturday. Tyrod Taylor has throw for 444 yards and three touchdowns on the season while being held to just 10 yards rushing. Ryan Williams has carried the offense with 342 yards on the ground with six touchdowns while Dyrell Roberts is averaging 48.3 yards per-kick return, including a 98-yard return for a touchdown. Defensively, Virginia Tech is last in the ACC in rushing yards allowed with 601, which may not be an issue against the Hurricanes.

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sportsbook.com have made

Miami
3-point road favorites over Virginia Tech on Saturday afternoon. The over/under total for this game has been established at 47.5.
