State on the road last weekend. The Bulldogs had just 257 yards of offense against the Cowboys, with quarterback Joe Cox making his debut as

Georgia’s starting quarterback. Cox looked good early, throwing for a 4-yard touchdown pass to Michael Moore in the first quarter, but

Georgia didn’t find the end zone again and Cox finished with 162 yards on 15-of-30 passing with an interception. The offensive bright spot was running back Richard Samuel who rushed for 87 yards on 20 carries. Defensively, the Bulldogs did hold the prolific

Oklahoma
State offense to just 307 total yards, but the Bulldogs couldn’t make the big plays late in the game to get the win.

The Gamecocks won their opener, but in a snoozer, beating

North Carolina
State 7-3 last Thursday.

South Carolina had just 256 yards of offense, but dominated on defense, holding the Wolfpack to 133 yards. Despite the win, coach Steve Spurrier must want to see more offense from his team. Stephen Garcia threw for 148 yards on 13-of-22 passing for the Gamecocks while Brian Maddox had 66 yards rushing on 23 carries. Last season,
