BYU vs. Oklahoma
BYU has a chance to make a big splash in the national title picture Saturday night when it faces
The 20th-ranked Cougars will face the No. 3 Sooners at the home of the Dallas Cowboys, with both teams believing they can have an unbeaten 2009 season.
BYU is coming off a 10-3 2008 season under fifth-year coach Bronco Mendenhall. The Cougars were led by quarterback Max Hall, who threw for 3,957 yards and 35 touchdowns last season to get the Cougars to a top-20 ranking throughout the year. Hall is back and had receiver Dennis Pitta with him. Pitta caught 83 passes for 1,083 yards and six touchdowns in 2008 as part of an offense that averaged 445 yards per-game. Also returning for BYU is running back Harvey Unga, who rushed for over 1,100 yards with 11 scores. The Cougars do have concerns on the offensive line, where left tackle Matt Reynolds is the only returning starter. Defensively, BYU brings back eight starters, led by two-time All-Mountain West defensive end Jan Jorgensen. Jorgensen racked up 54 tackles with five sacks in 2008.
