LONDON, England (TheSpread) – The Men’s Basketball competition at the 2012 Olympics has reached tournament play. Here is an updated look at the odds to win.

According to oddsmakers, the United States is the heavy favorite to win, as it has 1/20 odds to claim gold. The other short odds to win are Spain (12/1) and Russia (20/1).

The United States went 5-0 in pool play, outscoring their opponents by a total of 191 points. The Americans had a few scares along the way, but managed to stay unbeaten. The United States will face Australia in the quarterfinals of the tournament.

Spain went just 3-2 in pool play, but outscored its opponents by 20 points. Spain has arguably the best roster outside the U.S. Spain will take on France in the quarterfinals.

Russia went 4-1 in pool play, winning Group B. The Russians outscored opponents by 41 points. Russia will face Lithuania in the quarterfinals.

The Men’s Basketball Tournament for the 2012 Olympics takes place from London, England and the quarterfinals begin on Wednesday, August 8, with the finals taking place on Sunday, August 12. For the complete odds for which county will win the gold medal in men’s basketball, see below.
