Lines of Battle Derby Odds
CHURCHILL DOWNS, KY (The Spread) - As the 2013 Kentucky Derby nears, contender Lines of Battle remains a long shot to win on Saturday.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, Lines of Battle is a 33/1 long shot to win this weekend. Orb is now the favorite at 17/4, while Verrazano is right behind him at 9/2. Revolutionary is 7/1, Normandy Invasion is 10/1, and Overanalyze is 14/1. Both Java's War and Vykack are 18/1, respectively.
Lines of Battle drew the No. 11 post on Wednesday, which has produced three Kentucky Derby winners all-time. The rail and the No. 5 post have each produced 12 Kentucky Derby winners, which is the most, while the No. 8 and No. 10 posts have won 10 Derbies apiece. The No. 2 post has won nine times.
Lines of Battle won in his most recent outing, claiming victory in the Grade II UAE Derby on March 30. He also won his Maiden on May 27 of last year and took first in the Star Appeal Stakes on October 12, although he finished seventh on November 3 in the Grade I Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf.
Aidan O'Brien is Lines of Battle's trainer, while Ryan Moore will have the mount as his jockey. Moore is a three-time British flat racing champion jockey and was Flat Jockey of the Year in 2006, 2008 and 2009.
The 2013 Kentucky Derby will take place on Saturday, May 4 at 6:24PM ET (Post Time) from Churchill Downs.
