EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ (The Spread) – Two teams coming off embarrassing performances in Week 12 will clash on Sunday when the Jets host the Cardinals at 1:00PM ET.
ARIZONA: The Cardinals lost their seventh game in a row last Sunday when they fell to the Rams, 31-17. Rookie quarterback Ryan Lindley completed 31 of 52 passes for 312 yards but he threw four interceptions in the loss, which included two pick-sixes by Rams’ corner Janoris Jenkins. On the positive side, Beanie Wells rushed for two touchdowns and Andre Roberts caught nines passes for 92 yards but the loss dropped Arizona to 4-7 on the year. They also failed to cover the 1-point spread and are now 4-6-1 against the number this season.
NEW YORK: One week after putting together a stellar 27-13 win over the Rams in St. Louis, the Jets were blow out 49-19 by the Patriots at home last Thursday night. Mark Sanchez threw for 301 yards on 26-of-36 passing, but he was dreadful in the first half. After throwing an interception with his team closing in on the red zone, he ran into the back of his offensive lineman Brandon Moore and wound up fumbling the ball early in the second. The ball was scooped up by Steve Gregory, who returned the gift 32 yards for a touchdown. The Jets fell behind 35-3 at halftime and never recovered. The loss dropped New York’s record to 4-7 overall and 6-5 against the spread as it failed to cover as a 7-point underdog.
ODDS: According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Jets are 4.5-point favorites versus the Cardinals, while the over/under total is currently sitting at 36.5 points. Arizona is 4-7 overall and 1-4 on the road, while New York is 4-7 overall and 2-4 at home.
TRENDS: The Jets are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following an ATS loss and 7-3 ATS in their last 10 games in Week 13. On the flip side, Arizona is 1-6-1 against the number in its last eight games overall and 1-4 ATS in its last five games versus a team with a losing record.
