According to oddsmakers from Bovada.lv, Willis has been given over/under odds of 7.5 tackles for Sunday’s game with the Falcons. That wager includes all solo and assisted tackles.

Willis piled up 120 tackles during the regular season, averaging exactly 7.5 tackles per game. Despite being a physical player, Willis didn’t miss any games during the season and is proving to be a durable linebacker. In last week’s win over the Packers, Willis finished the game with seven tackles, all of which were solo. In seven of the team’s 16 regular-season games, Willis had at least eight tackles. He had a big presence in last season’s playoff games as well, picking up eight tackles in each of the 49ers’ two games.

Willis will be meeting up with one of the top offensive teams in the NFL this season. The Falcons averaged 26.2 points per game, which ranked seventh in the league. The Falcons were eighth in the NFL in yardage, amassing 369.1 yards per contest. Atlanta uses a mix of run and pass, which opens the door for Willis to make a lot of plays. He will be responsible for some pass coverage in the middle of the field, but will also be the primary run stopper against the likes of Michael Turner and Jacquizz Rodgers. In the case of this wagers, the 49ers’ success as a defense actually hurts Willis’ chances of getting 8 tackles. Atlanta will need to sustain drives and move the ball down the field to give Willis the ability to rack up the tackles.
