FOXBORO, NE (The Spread) – The last time the Texans and Patriots met at Gillette Stadium Houston left New England with an ugly loss. Will it be different today when the two teams meet in the postseason?
HOUSTON: The Texans limped into the playoffs while losing three of their last four games to end the regular season. But they beat the Bengals 19-13 in the wild card round last week as Matt Schaub completed 29-of-38 passes for 262 yards with one interception, while Arian Foster rushed 32 times for 140 yards with one touchdown. Owen Daniels also caught nine passes for 91 yards while Andre Johnson caught four passes for 62 yards. Houston finished the regular season with a 12-4 record and went 9-7 against the spread. NEW ENGLAND: The Patriots finished the regular season on a two-game winning streak and won nine of their last 10 games to close out the year. In Week 14 New England crushed Houston 42-14 as a 5.5-point favorite. Tom Brady completed 21-of-35 passes for 296 yards and four touchdowns, while Stevan Ridley rushed 18 times for 72 yards and a score. Brandon Lloyd, meanwhile, caught seven passes for 89 yards with one touchdown while Donte Stallworth caught seven passes for 89 yards with one score and Aaron Hernandez had two touchdown receptions. New England had an outstanding season, finishing with a 12-4 overall record and a 9-7 record against the spread. With the Texans’ Week 17 loss to the Colts, the Patriots secured home field advantage in the Divisional Round and a first-round bye.
