UNCASVILLE, Conn. (AP) - Dylon Cormier's layup and free throw with 1.5 seconds remaining gave Loyola (Md.) a 67-64 victory over Albany on Sunday. Cormier, who finished with 16 points, took a long inbounds pass from Anthony Winbush and got fouled by D.J. Evans after Albany's Jacob Iati tied the game with a 3-pointer. Erik Etherly led the Greyhounds (4-1) with 23 points and grabbed seven rebounds and Cormier added 16 points in a consolation bracket final in the Hall of Fame Tip Off. Loyola led by 18 points in the first half and was ahead 59-47 with 8:34 remaining before the Great Danes (3-2) began to chip away. Iati's tying 3-pointer with 3.1 seconds remaining capped a 17-5 Albany run. Winbush scored a season-best 12 points for Loyola and had five assists and seven rebounds. Blake Metcalf led Albany's scorers with 12 points, and Iati and Peter Hooley had 11 apiece. |
