SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) -Missouri State has hired Purdue assistant Cuonzo Martin to fill its head coaching vacancy.
The 36-year-old Martin replaces Barry Hinson. Hinson was fired on March 9 after failing to take Missouri State to the NCAA tournament in nine seasons.
Martin was introduced in a Wednesday news conference at Missouri State's Hammons Student Center.
Martin is a former Purdue player and was an assistant coach there for seven years. Purdue promoted him to associate coach last year.
