Astros shut down Angels
Houston clinched home-field throughout the AL Friday night with a 4-0 shutout victory at Los Angeles. Jose Urquidy picked up the win as he threw six shutout innings with three hits allowed, two strikeouts and one walk. Michael Brantley led the Astros offensively as he finished 1-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Alex Bregman was 1-for-3 with a solo homer plus a walk. Jack Mayfield ended the game 2-for-3 with a run scored. Justin Verlander gets the start tonight as he enters with a 20-6 record, 2.53 ERA and 0.81 WHIP plus 288 strikeouts over 217 innings pitched.
Angels offense struggles
Los Angeles lost by a 4-0 score Friday night at home versus Houston to drop to 72-88 overall and 38-41 at home. Patrick Sandoval suffered the loss as he allowed one earned run on two hits with three strikeouts and three walks over 3 1/3 innings pitched. Andrelton Simmons and Matt Thaiss led the lackluster offensive effort as they were both 1-for-3. David Fletcher finished 1-for-4. MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros are 6-1 in their last seven road games. Houston is 8-0 in the last eight Verlander Saturday starts.
Los Angeles
The Angels are 5-2 in their last seven Saturday games. Los Angeles is 0-7 in the last seven Suarez starts.
Prediction:
This is about as lopsided as it gets. Verlander has been lights out against basically everyone, while Suarez has taken a ton of lumps in his rookie season and that isn’t expected to get any better today against an Astros lineup that crushes lefties. I think the runline bet is the best here since the moneyline bet is so steep.
