Dodgers primed to explode against D-backs
Dodgers skipper Dave Roberts used six relievers in Friday’s tilt against the Diamondbacks. All the maneuvering resulted in a big win, too.
With the second-place Giants handling their business vs. St. Louis, NL West-leading Los Angeles maintained its edge by nipping Arizona 3-2. The two combatants meet again tonight, with an 8:10 p.m. ET first pitch in Phoenix. Online sports book Bovada.lv favors the visiting club to nab another victory, while Chip Hale’s troops are considered +140 underdogs.
For the Boys in Blue, Brock Stewart replaces Bud Norris in the rotation. The 24-year-old draws his fifth assignment of the campaign, having gone 1-2 with a 6.55 ERA thus far. Most recently, he held the D-backs to one run over five innings.
Hale answers with Shelby Miller, he of the hellacious 8-28 mark since the beginning of last season. Not even a mid-July demotion to Triple-A Reno could reverse the former top prospect’s abundant troubles. He’s 1-2 with a 2.04 WHIP in six career appearances against the Dodgers.

Los Angeles has claimed 11 of 17 meetings with the Diamondbacks in 2016. We see no reason to shy away from Roberts’ group here, either. Bank on Adrian Gonzalez, Corey Seager and the rest of bats to prolong Miller’s misery.
