Dodgers shoot to dice up D-backs again
The Dodgers are about to embark on a 10-game trip. But first, they have to take care of business against a fledgling Arizona club.
Dave Roberts’ troops aim to sweep the Diamondbacks tonight, with a 10:10 p.m. ET first pitch in the City of Angels. Online sports book Bovada.lv gives the hosts odds of -135 to turn the trick, while Chip Hale’s team enters Chavez Ravine as a +125 underdog. The over/under run figure rests at 7.5.
As the calendar winds down, Los Angeles continues to expand its NL West lead over San Francisco. Yesterday’s 5-2 verdict pushed the squad’s advantage to four games. Brock Stewart could help add to that number tonight, but he’ll have to demonstrate an ability to work decidedly deeper into the proceedings. On Aug. 28, the righty struck out a career-high eight batters vs. the Cubs. Yet a lack of efficiency forced him to exit after just five innings.
Meanwhile, Arizona’s Robbie Ray is attempting to overcome his own concerns. The southpaw was tagged for six runs and eight base knocks across 4 1/3 frames in his most recent start. For the season, though, Ray’s holding lefty hitters to just a .269 batting average.

With the Dodgers understanding the tough road (literally) ahead, expect their laser focus to extend well into the evening. Nonetheless, the D-backs are likely to launch a dinger or two off Stewart, as well. Bank on a high-scoring finale.
