Cleveland Indians Fantasy Spin
Carlos Santana drew a pair of walks Wednesday in a loss to the Red Sox. Cleveland’s bats fell silent against Boston as the Tribe managed just four hits in Wednesday’s matinee. Santana was one of just two Indians to reach base twice (Oscar Mercado was the other), earning free passes in the first and fifth innings. The veteran has dominated in his return to Cleveland this year, rolling to a .287 average (well above his career mark of .250) with a team-high 27 homers and 72 RBI. Thanks to his 88 walks—tied for third-most in the majors—Santana sports a robust .410 on base percentage, good for second-best in the American League behind MVP frontrunner Mike Trout (.440).
New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Gary Sanchez reached in all four of his plate appearances Wednesday in the Yankees’ victory over Baltimore. Gary was, as John Sterling might put it, pretty scary on Wednesday, demolishing the Orioles with three hits including a one-out, first-inning bomb off right-hander Dylan Bundy. The three-run jack was his 26th of the season and his 10th against Baltimore, who the Yankees have annihilated all year (17-2 record). Even with Wednesday’s heroics factored in, the All-Star backstop is still hitting a meager .185 across 54 second-half at-bats. The Yankees have weathered Sanchez’s second-half slide thanks to brilliant performances by Gio Urshela, DJ LeMahieu and Mike Tauchman, among others.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians are 38-16 in their last 54 games overall and are 17-5 in their last 22 games coming off a loss.
New York
The Yankees have won 11 straight games in which Chad Green has started at Yankee Stadium. They are also 14-3 in his last 17 outings overall.
Prediction:
The under is a perfect 4-0 in Adam Plutko’s last four starts, is 5-2 in his last seven outings against opponents from the American League Eat and is 8-3-1 in the Indians’ last 12 games. On the other side, the under is 4-1 in Green’s last five starts for the Yankees and has cashed in four of his lats five outings following a start of less than four innings in his last appearance.
The Pick: Indians/Yankees UNDER 11
