Astros split with Sox
Houston took the doubleheader opener on Tuesday, 6-2, but was unable to grab the nightcap and suffered a 4-1 loss. The Astros are 78-42 overall this season, 35-27 on the road and 64-51 with the under. Wade Miley gets the start for the Astros this evening. He is 11-4 on the season with a 2.99 ERA.
The Astros slowly grinded out the win in Game 1, scoring a single run in six of the nine innings. Jose Altuve and George Springer each homered in the win while Zack Greinke earned his second win by pitching six innings and allowing two runs. In Game 2, Houston spread out four pitchers. Chris Devenski took the loss by allowing the three early runs. Houston was held to just four hits, all of which were singles. George Springer had two of the four hits and drove in a run.
Sox grab a win
Chicago is just 3-4 over its last seven games after splitting the doubleheader on Tuesday. The Sox are 53-65 overall, 29-31 at home and 62-52 with the under. Chicago has Ross Detwiler on the mound today. He is 1-3 on the season with a 5.35 ERA.
In Game 1, Dylan Cease took the loss by allowing four runs over six innings. He is now 2-5 on the season. Jose Abreu led the team with two hits and a RBI. In Game 2, the Sox put up three runs in the second inning and never looked back. Ryan Goins had two hits and two RBI to lead the way while Ivan Nova threw a gem on the mound. Nova had a complete game, allowing one unearned run with just four hits allowed. He is now 8-9 on the year.
MLB Betting Trends
Houston
The Astros have won five straight following a loss and nine of their last 10 Game 3’s of a series.
Chicago
The White Sox have won five straight against a left-handed starter, but are just 9-20 in their last 29 games on grass.
Prediction:
Miley has been on cruise control for most of the season and he has given up just three earned runs over his last 16.2 innings. His walk numbers are a little high, but he should be fine against this Chicago lineup. Detwiler has been stronger as of late, giving up two runs in each of his last two starts. The problem for him is he’s not getting run support. The Sox have scored just six runs total over his last five appearances.
MLB Prediction: Houston Astros -1.5 (-185)
