Rockies hammered in getaway game
Colorado lost by a score of 14-3 Wednesday in its series finale at Houston to drop to 52-62 overall and 23-35 on the road. Trevor Story finished 1-for-3 with a solo home run to help lead the Rockies offense. Nolan Arenado went 1-for-2 with a solo homer. Chris Iannetta ended the game 2-for-3 with a run scored. Peter Lambert took the loss as he surrendered nine earned runs on seven hits over three innings, striking out one and walking four. Jon Gray draws the start tonight for Colorado as he enters with a 10-7 record, 4.03 ERA and 1.39 WHIP with 139 strikeouts over 136 1/3 innings pitched.
Padres edged at M’s
San Diego lost by a score of 3-2 Wednesday at Seattle in a series finale to drop to 52-61 overall and 27-31 on the road. Fernando Tatis Jr. helped lead the Padres offense as he finished 2-for-4 with a solo home run. Francisco Mejia was 3-for-4 with a solo homer. Wil Myers went 1-for-4 with a double. Andres Munoz took the loss in relief as he gave up one earned run on one hit with two strikeouts over one inning of work. Eric Lauer gets the start tonight for San Diego as he comes in with a 6-8 record, 4.43 ERA and 1.34 WHIP with 87 strikeouts over 105 2/3 innings pitched.
MLB Betting Trends
Colorado
The Rockies are 5-1 in their last six Thursday games. Colorado is 8-23 in its last 31 games overall.
San Diego
The Padres are 2-5 in their last seven games overall. San Diego is 4-1 in its last five Lauer home starts.
Prediction:
Both teams have had underwhelming seasons, but the Rockies in particular have been lifeless lately. But with a decent power pitcher on the mound in Gray away from home, he has the potential to dominate here. Arenado and Story crush lefties, which should make life tough on Lauer. I like the Rockies here to bounce back from their last couple losses and get the win here.
