Cincinnati Reds Fantasy Spin
Amir Garrett was suspended for eight games following Tuesday night’s benches-clearing brawl with the Pirates. Garrett charged at the Pittsburgh dugout and landed at least one punch on a Pirates player. The setup man is appealing the suspension and will be available out of the Reds’ bullpen until it is heard.
Atlanta Braves Fantasy Spin
Freddie Freeman hit a three-run home run in Thursday’s first inning, leading the Braves to a rain-shortened, 4-1 win over the Reds. Reds starter Anthony DeSclafani left a breaking ball up and away to one of the game’s best hitters, and Freeman did what good hitters do to hanging pitches, swatting it out to left-center field for a three-run blast. The homer was the 26th of the year for Freeman, giving him 85 RBI and 83 runs scored. The 29-year-old is hitting .305/.397/.563 and ranks among the league leaders in virtually every offensive category this season.
MLB Betting Trends
Cincinnati
The Reds are 4-1 in their last five games coming off a loss and are 4-1 in their last five games when facing a right-handed starter.
Atlanta
The Braves have won five of their last seven games overall and 17 of their last 25 games at SunTrust Park.
Prediction:
The Braves have been profitable when Kevin Gausman is on the mound, winning four of his last five home games and seven straight when he pitches on four days of rest. The Braves have also won nine of their last 13 games when facing a left-handed starter and are 55-27 in their last 82 games when facing an opponent with a losing record. On the other side, the Reds are just 4-10 in their last 14 road games and have dropped five of six against teams from in the National League East.
The Pick: Atlanta Braves -1.5 (+125)
