New York Yankees Fantasy Spin
Austin Romine went 3-for-4 with two RBI and a run scored Friday against the Red Sox. Seeing a chance at playing time with Gary Sanchez (groin) on the shelf, Romine drove in a run with an infield single in the seventh inning and added an RBI double in the ninth. The 30-year-old hasn’t done much of note offensively this year, but he put up 10 homers and a .713 OPS in 265 plate appearances last year. He could have some value in two-catcher fantasy leagues in this situation.
Boston Red Sox Fantasy Spin
Mookie Betts enjoyed a monster night at the plate Friday against the Yankees, going 4-for-5 with three homers, five RBI, and four runs scored. All three homers were against James Paxton. Betts took him deep to begin the bottom of the first before hitting a solo shot in the third and a two-run shot in the fourth. Staring a four-homer night in the face, Betts doubled home a run in the sixth and grounded out in his final at-bat in the eighth. This was his fifth career three-homer games. Only seven other players in MLB history have reached five career three-homer games. With his huge performance, Betts’ OPS has increased from .874 to .906.
MLB Betting Trends
New York
The Yankees are 0-4 in CC Sabathia’s last four road starts but have won five of his last seven outings against the rest of the American League East.
Boston
The Red Sox have now won four of their last five overall and four straight at home.
Prediction:
There’s no reason to fade Boston right now. The Red Sox are 39-12 in Eduardo Rodriguez’s last 51 starts and are 35-17 in his last 52 outings at Fenway Park. They’re also 5-2 in their last seven games versus a left-handed starter and have won 16 of Rodriguez’s last 21 starts versus American League opponents. The Yankees, meanwhile, have dropped five straight when Sabathia faces an opponent with a winning record on the road.
The Pick: Boston Red Sox -135
