Los Angeles Angels Fantasy Spin
Albert Pujols went 2-for-3 with a home run — one of four the Angels hit on Sunday afternoon — two RBI and two runs scored in a 9-3 victory over the Mariners. Pujols got the long ball barrage started in the second inning when he lifted a Yusei Kikuchi offering the other way, just clearing the wall in right for his 15th homer of the year and the 648th of his career. He later singled and scored on a Brian Goodwin homer in the fourth inning, and drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth. Pujols is in the sunset of his career but at least he’s showing signs of life lately, batting .359 with two homers, 15 RBI and seven runs scored this month. The good stretch has his overall line up to .252/.314/.458 in 78 games played.
Los Angeles Dodgers Fantasy Spin
Joc Pederson went 2-for-4 with a two-run home run and two runs scored in Sunday’s win over the Marlins. Marlins rookie Jordan Yamamoto tried to come inside with a fastball in the third inning and Pederson turned on it, knocking it over the wall in right field for a two-run shot. The home run was his 23rd of the year, approaching the career-best 26 homers he hit in 2015. The 27-year-old remains a strict platoon split player for fantasy purposes, and even his numbers against right-handers have cooled since his scorching start. Overall, Pederson is hitting .240/.329/.528 with those 23 homers, 48 RBI and 54 runs scored in 91 games.
