Indians rolling along
Cleveland is coming off a series win at home over the Kansas City Royals this weekend and the Tribe have won seven of their last eight games. The Indians are 57-41 overall, 25-20 on the road and 53-42 with the under. Mike Clevinger gets the start for the Indians. He is 3-2 on the season with a 3.57 ERA.
The Indians have one of the top pitching staffs in the league, posting a 3.86 team ERA with a 1.21 team WHIP. At the plate, Cleveland averages 4.58 runs per game while batting .247. Carlos Santana has been leading the team with 19 doubles, 21 home runs and 54 RBI. Jose Ramirez is adding 20 doubles, 10 home runs, 46 RBI and 20 stolen bases.
Jays top the Tigers
Despite losing on Sunday, the Blue Jays won a weekend series at Detroit. The Blue Jays are now 38-63 on the season, 18-30 at home and 49-49 with the over/under total. Toronto has Ryan Borucki getting the start today. He is making his 2019 debut today.
The Blue Jays are putting up 4.37 runs per game at the plate this season while hitting .233 as a team. On the mound, Toronto is posting a 4.88 team ERA with a 1.45 team WHIP. Freddy Galvis is leading the team this season with 20 doubles, 15 home runs and 47 RBI while Randal Grichuk is adding 15 doubles, 16 home runs and 43 RBI.
MLB Betting Trends
Cleveland
The Indians have won six straight road games and 10 of their last 12 games following a win.
Toronto
The Blue Jays are just 5-16 in their last 21 Monday games and 4-12 in their last 16 home games against a right-handed starter.
Prediction:
Borucki is making his first start of the year after going 4-6 in 2017 with a 3.87 ERA and 1.32 WHIP. It’s hard to know what to expect of him after such a long time off due to injury. After a shaky start to his season due to injuries, Clevinger looks to have settled in. He has given up just two runs over his last 17 innings with 27 strikeouts and only three walks. I think he can continue to roll against this weak Toronto lineup. The Cleveland hitters have been heating up over the last month, so I think they can touch up Borucki.
MLB Prediction: Cleveland Indians -175
