Cardinals favored to win NL Central
LAS VEGAS, NV (The Spread) – The St. Louis Cardinals have lost three straight games but they currently have the best record in baseball and are favored tow in the NL Central.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Cardinals are 1/4 favorites to win the National League Central Division while the second-place Pirates have the next best odds at 11/4. The Cubs are 12/1, the Reds are 200/1 and the Brewers are massive long shots at 500/1.
Despite injuries to Adam Wainwright, Matt Holliday, Matt Adams, Jordan Walden and Jon Jay, the Cardinals entered the All-Star Break with the best record in baseball. Their pitching has been outstanding, specifically young All-Stars Michael Wacha, Carlos Martinez and closer Trevor Rosenthal. But they’ve also received consistent production out of John Lackey and setup man Kevin Siegrist as well.
But do the Cards have enough offense? The club will receive a boost when Holliday returns but Andrew McCutchen has been on fire for a Pittsburgh team that also has excellent pitching so the race in the NL Central will be thrilling in the second half.
