Pirates dominate at Astros
Pittsburgh shut down host Houston Thursday afternoon in a 10-0 win to improve to 38-41 overall and 21-22 on the road. Starling Marte helped pace the Pirates offense as he finished 2-for-5 with a solo home run and three runs scored. Kevin Newman ended the contest 3-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Corey Dickerson finished the game 1-for-4 with a homer and two RBIs. Josh Bell ended the game 2-for-5 with a home run, a double and two RBIs. Jacob Stallings went 3-for-3 with a home run, a walk, two runs and two RBIs. Joe Musgrove picked up the win as he threw six shutout innings with nine hits allowed, five strikeouts and no walks. Chris Archer will start today for Pittsburgh as he enters with a 3-6 record, 5.56 ERA and 1.48 WHIP with 74 strikeouts over 69 2/3 innings.
Brewers double up M’s
Milwaukee avoided a home sweep Thursday afternoon versus Seattle as it prevailed by a count of 4-2. A three-run home run by Orlando Arcia in the fourth inning highlighted a four-run frame as the Brewers took a 4-0 lead they would not relinquish. It was the only hit for Arcia in three at-bats. Eric Thames ended the game 2-for-4 with two doubles and a run. Ryan Braun also finished 2-for-4 with a run scored. Chase Anderson picked up the win as he gave up two runs (one earned) on three hits over 5 1/3 innings, striking out six and walking one. Josh Hader struck out three over two perfect innings of work to notch his 19th save. Jhoulys Chacin draws the start for Milwaukee tonight as he comes in with a 3-8 record, 5.88 ERA and 1.51 WHIP with 56 strikeouts over 67 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Pittsburgh
The Pirates are 5-2 in their last seven Friday games. Pittsburgh is 4-1 in the last five Archer starts.
Milwaukee
The Brewers are 1-5 in the last six Chacin starts. Milwaukee is 3-7 in its las 10 games overall.
Prediction:
Neither starting pitcher is much to write about with the way they are pitching, but the Pirates come in hot offensively and will probably avoid Hader out of the bullpen as he threw two innings last night. Archer usually struggles his second and third times through the order. He might not be great tonight, but I expect him to get enough run support. With Milwaukee struggling lately, I see a good opportunity for a dog bet her.
