McKinney hits walk-off HR
Billy McKinney hit a pinch-hit two-run home run in the bottom of the ninth inning Thursday night to propel Toronto to a 7-5 home win over the Angels. Eric Sogard helped pace the Blue Jays by going a perfect 3-for-3 with a solo home run, a double, two walks and two runs scored. Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went 3-for-5 with a solo home run, a double and two runs. Randal Grichuk ended the contest 2-for-5 with a double and a run. Nick Kingham picked up the win in relief as he gave up one hit with no strikeouts or walks over one scoreless frame. Trent Thornton gets the start today for Toronto as he enters with a 2-5 record, 4.36 ERA and 1.40 WHIP with 80 strikeouts over 76 1/3 innings.
Red Sox win finale at Twins
Boston rebounded from a 17-inning loss the night before to pick up a 9-4 victory Wednesday night in its series finale at Minnesota. Brock Holt helped lead the Red Sox offense as he finished the contest 1-for-3 with two walks, a run and three RBIs. Michael Chavis finished 2-for-5 with two RBIs. Eduardo Nunez finished 2-for-2 with two doubles and a run scored off the bench. Eduardo Rodriguez picked up the win as he allowed four earned runs on seven hits with nine strikeouts and three walks over seven innings. Chris Sale draws the start today for Boston as he comes in with a 3-7 record, 3.49 ERA and 0.97 WHIP with 130 strikeouts over 90 1/3 innings.
MLB Betting Trends
Toronto
The Blue Jays are 0-4 in their last four series openers. Toronto is 0-4 in its last four Friday games.
Boston
The Red Sox are 7-1 in their last eight games overall. Boston is 1-4 in its last five Friday games.
Prediction:
This is one of those games where you have to take a long look at the runline in order to get any sort of value. I don’t necessarily trust the under play even with Sale on the mound as the Red Sox might throttle Thornton and the Toronto bullpen to hit the over by themselves. This game has Boston written all over it.
