Reds regain key piece for finale vs. Braves
The Reds have felt great about their offense for the past month or so. Could the starting staff be the next part of the team to turn the corner?
Highly regarded righty Anthony DeSclafani takes the mound for only the second time this year in tonight’s clash vs. the Braves, with a 7:10 p.m. ET first pitch at Turner Field. Oddsmakers at online sports book BetDSI favor the hosts, while Cincinnati represents a -101 underdog. The over/under run figure is 8.5.
DeSclafani was supposed to embody Bryan Price’s No. 1 hurler at the beginning of 2016. A strained left oblique sabotaged the Florida product’s final assignment of spring training, however, and mandated a lengthy rehab stint. Last week’s official season debut featured few signs of rust. DeSclafani scattered eight hits across six innings, permitting just one run.
In several hours, he’ll receive resistance from Bud Norris. Atlanta’s veteran threw seven extremely effective frames in Friday’s triumph against the Cubs. In fact, he’s looked markedly better ever since Mike Foltynewicz’s injury opened up a spot in Brian Snitker’s rotation.

If Julio Teheran can’t get ample support, though, why should we expect a different result with Norris on the hill? DeSclafani possesses the goods to silence the opposition. In other words, the Braves are doomed to slip to 7-28 at home.
