Red Sox’ Price allows two runs in win over White Sox
David Price allowed two runs in six innings to earn a win over the White Sox on Saturday. He surrendered five hits and three walks while fanning three in the quality start. He survived a tough first inning that saw both runs cross the plate, then pitched five more innings in scoreless fashion to earn his seventh win of the season. He sports an even 4.00 ERA and 1.25 WHIP through 13 starts. He will climb the hill to face the Mariners on Thursday.
Mariners’ Hernandez surrendered six runs to Rays
Felix Hernandez surrendered six runs (five earned) on seven hits over three innings in Saturday’s loss to the Rays. Hernandez jumped in the time machine to fire off eight innings of one-run ball against these same Rays last time out, but it was a different story completely on Saturday afternoon. A Matt Duffy RBI double in the first inning was just a taste of what was to follow for King Felix, who proceeded to cough up three more runs in the second inning and two more in the third before he was mercifully replaced by Roenis Elias to open the fourth inning. Time has hit the former Cy Young winner hard — as it will hit all of us hard in due time — and he’s now the owner of a bloated 5.70 ERA and 1.38 WHIP. It’s not going to get any easier next time out, when he helps play host to the Red Sox.
MLB Betting Trends
Boston
The Red Sox are a perfect 6-0 in Price’s last six starts and are 5-2 in his last seven road outings.
Seattle
The Mariners are 29-14 in Hernandez’s last 43 starts coming off four days of rest and are 21-7 in their last 28 games.
Prediction:
The under is 7-1 in the last eight meetings between these two teams and has cashed in nine of the last 11 meetings in Seattle. The under is also 9-3-1 in the Red Sox’ last 13 games versus a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30 and is 6-2 in Hernandez’s last eight starts coming off four days of rest.
The Pick: Red Sox/Mariners under 8.5
