Orioles Season Odds
The Baltimore Orioles decent start has some encouraged at what the O’s can do in 2009. But can the starting pitching come through in order for this club to compete?
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Orioles 80/1 long shots to win the 2009 World Series and established their National League Pennant odds at 50/1.
It’s hard to argue with anyone that states that the Orioles have a nice collection of position players, starting with outfielder Nick Markakis, who is a five-tool player and becoming a true star. Brian Roberts is also one of the better young leadoff hitters in baseball and Aubrey Huff, Melvin Mora and Luke Scott comprise a pretty decent solid lineup.
The starting pitching needs to come through in order for Baltimore to compete this season. Jeremy Guthrie isn’t a true ace and the rest of the rotation is spotty at best. The offense could keep the O’s in contention, but not on its own. The starting pitching needs to come through in order for this club to battle the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays in the toughest division in baseball.
