Rangers Season Odds
The Texas Rangers are hoping their dynamic offense will overcome their anemic pitching staff so that they can make a run in 2009.
Oddsmakers from online sports book SBG Global have made the Rangers 60/1 long shots to win the 2009 World Series and established their American League Pennant odds at 25/1.
First the good – the Rangers’ will once again score plenty of runs. Josh Hamilton became one of baseball’s best stories last season and he’s joined some outstanding young talents in Ian Kinsler and Chris Davis.
Now the bad – the starting pitching is one of the worst in baseball, with Kevin Millwood, Vincente Padilla, Matt Harrison, Brandon McCarthy and Kris Benson comprising a rotation that should be knocked around plenty this year.
Again, Texas is going to score some runs this year, but will it be enough to overcome a lackluster rotation? If the starting pitching can survive, then this team will not only compete, but they could challenge the Los Angeles Angels and Oakland A’s in a weak AL West. Don’t fall asleep on the Rangers, because the offense will once again be very, very good.
