Raphael Matos hasn’t gotten a chance to become a household name in the IRL, but a strong showing in Sunday’s 2010 Indianapolis 500 could change all that.
Bet 2010 Indianapolis 500 Odds
Last year, Matos became the fastest rookie qualifier for the Indy 500, as he started 12th. But, an accident during the race put him in 22nd place at race’s end. This year, Matos is hoping for a little better luck
Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction currently list Matos at 50/1 to win the 2010 Indy 500. Helio Castroneves, who won the pole on Saturday, is the current favorite at 5/2 and Scott Dixon is 7/2 to win.
In just his second season competing in the IRL, Matos has shown some promise as he has 10 top 10’s in 22 career races. This year, Matos started with back-to-back top 10’s but hasn’t finished better than 14th in the last three events. Matos will start 12th in Sunday’s race.
