5/28/10 Indianapolis 500 Odds – Raphael Matos 50-1 To Win

Raphael Matos hasn’t gotten a chance to become a household name in the IRL, but a strong showing in Sunday’s 2010 Indianapolis 500 could change all that.

Last year, Matos became the fastest rookie qualifier for the Indy 500, as he started 12^th. But, an accident during the race put him in 22^nd place at race’s end. This year, Matos is hoping for a little better luck

Oddsmakers from online sports book Sports Interaction currently list Matos at 50/1 to win the 2010 Indy 500. Helio Castroneves, who won the pole on Saturday, is the current favorite at 5/2 and Scott Dixon is 7/2 to win.

In just his second season competing in the IRL, Matos has shown some promise as he has 10 top 10’s in 22 career races. This year, Matos started with back-to-back top 10’s but hasn’t finished better than 14^th in the last three events. Matos will start 12^th in Sunday’s race.
