English Premier League Betting Tips

Betting tips for the 2016/17 English Premier League

We are a few weeks into the new season of the Premier League now and fans are starting to get back into the swing of following their teams – by watching the live games on TV or going to the matches.

Of course, some supporters take things a little further than just watching and cheering, by opting to place bets on which side will be champions at the end of the season. This article will look at that issue and examine the favourites.

Let’s start by looking at the shock champions of last season – Leicester City. As a number of pundits predicted they have found things a little difficult at the start of their title defence – including heavy defeats at Anfield and Old Trafford. They hung onto stars Jamie Vardy and Riyad Mahrez, but lost N’Golo Kante, while new signing Slimane has made a promising start. Part of the problem for Leicester is that they now have to contend with Champions League football as well, alongside other teams raising their game against them, and so far it doesn’t look like they can. This has seen them slip to 200/1 for the title with bookmakers – although they should still enjoy a good season. At the moment, it is Manchester City who are setting the pace in the league – with a 100 percent record under iconic new manager Pep Guardiola after six games. They made some signings during the summer, including bringing in young centre back John Stones from Everton, but Guardiola is improving upon the disappointing performances that saw them finish well off the pace in fourth spot last year by getting the best out of existing stars like Raheem Sterling and Kevin De Bruyne. The latter in particular looks reborn and stopping the 4/6 rated favourites will be very hard.

Manchester United have also had a rocky start, which sees their odds rising to 10/1 already, and at the moment a Champions League spot looks more feasible. They have Jose Mourinho as manager now and big money signings Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Paul Pogba, but doubts persist about them. While United have fallen short of expectations so far, Liverpool are surpassing them – with impressive away wins over Arsenal and Chelsea already. In his second season, manager Jurgen Klopp is successfully implementing his high tempo pressing tactics and players like Lallana coming good they could be a strong bet at 11/2. Finally Arsenal are rated 9/1 and have enjoyed a reasonable start – looking especially impressive in the 3-0 win over Chelsea. Not many pundits favoured them in pre-season though and question marks remain about their temperament. If you enjoy placing bets like this, there are others forms of football betting that are similar – such as playing the football themed slot Soccer Safari – which you could try on mobilecasinoaustralia along with other casino games for your mobile. The five reels of this game feature animals playing football, with the idea being that they are having their own World Cup, and both the prizes and the animated graphics are fantastic – making it a fun-filled complement to Premier League betting.

If you could scoop the Soccer Safari jackpot and pick the Premier League winner, next summer would be very sweet.
