(The Spread) – The odds are out for the Gaelic games and the 2011 All Ireland Football Championship, where Limerick is favored.
Oddsmakers from online sports book Bodog have made Limerick an 11/8 favorite to win this year’s All Ireland Football Championship, while Kerry has the next best odds at 7/4. Cork is 2/1, Dublin is 7/2 and Kildare is 7/1. The long shots include Roscommon (100/1) and Mayo (33/1), while Donegal is 14/1 and Tyrone is 9/1.
Limerick has won the League of Ireland title twice, with those victories coming in the 1959-60 and 1979-80 seasons. They’ve also won the FAI Cup twice (1971 and 1982), as well as the League of Ireland Cup three times (1976-77, 1992-93, and 2001-02).
Of course, Kerry is regarded as the most successful team in the history of Gaelic football. It has won the All-Ireland Senior Football Championship on 36 separate occasions, as well as the National Football League (Ireland) 19 times.
The Gaelic games are played in Ireland, with the two main events being Gaelic football and hurling. Gaelic football is the most popular of the Gaelic games and is played on a rectangular grass pitch with H-shaped goals at each end.
