CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) The NCAA has given Illinois guard Tracy Abrams a sixth year of eligibility after he missed last season with a torn left Achilles tendon.
Illinois coach John Groce said in a news release Thursday that he looks forward to having Abrams on the court again, as well as being a source of leadership and determination.
Abrams last played in 2013-14 and was second on the team in scoring with 10.7 points a game and led the Illini in assists with 3.2 a game. He has been a four-time team captain.
Abrams tore his Achilles tendon last July and missed all of last season. He missed the previous season with a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee.
Abrams has already earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Illinois.
