DETROIT (AP) -Dominik Hasek gave up early goals in each of the first two periods of a rusty return and the San Jose Sharks beat the slumping Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Friday night.
Joe Pavelski scored on the first shot of the game, and Devin Setoguchi had a goal 52 seconds into the second period. The rookie scored again midway through the third.
Henrik Zetterberg had his 36th goal and Mikael Samuelsson scored to pull the Red Wings within a goal with 7-plus minutes left, but they couldn't tie the game.
Evgeni Nabokov made 20 saves, helping San Jose win a fourth straight game on its eight-game road trip.
Ducks 3, Flames 1
ANAHEIM, Calif. (AP) - Defensemen Mathieu Schneider and Scott Niedermayer each had a goal and an assist, Jean-Sebastien Giguere made 22 saves and Anaheim beat Calgary for its fifth straight victory.
The Flames had to play shorthanded for the final 3:18 after Kristian Huselius got a double-minor for cutting Rob Niedermayer with a high stick in the Anaheim zone. They were two-men short for the final 1:27 after Dion Phaneuf got a holding penalty, two more minutes for unsportsmanlike conduct, and a 10-minute misconduct.
Teemu Selanne completed the scoring with 52 seconds left during the 5-on-3 advantage.
Phaneuf scored for Calgary.
Capitals 4, Devils 0
NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - Cristobal Huet stopped 18 shots in his first start for Washington and fellow newcomer Sergei Fedorov made a sensational no-look pass to help break a scoreless tie.
Mike Green, Viktor Kozlov, Alexander Semin and Donald Brashear scored for the Capitals, who pulled to within three points of first-place Carolina in the Southeast Division. Semin also had an assist for Washington, which has played two fewer games than the Hurricanes.
The shutout was the third of the season for Huet, who was acquired from Montreal for a draft pick in a trading deadline deal on Tuesday.
Canadiens 6, Sabres 2
BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) - Tomas Plekanec had three power-play goals for his first hat trick, and rookie Carey Price won his second straight start since taking over as Montreal's top goalie.
Plekanec added an assist, Mark Streit had a goal and two assists, and Alex Kovalev had four assists for Montreal. The Canadiens moved ahead of idle Ottawa into first place in the Northeast Division with its sixth win in eight games.
Andrei Kastsitsyn and Siarhei Kastsitsyn also scored for the Canadiens, who had lost the last three meetings against Buffalo.
Thomas Vanek had a goal and assist, and Tim Connolly added a goal for the Sabres, who have dropped three of four.
Lightning 3, Maple Leafs 2, OT
TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Dan Boyle scored a power-play goal with 2:58 left in overtime and Tampa Bay beat Toronto.
Tampa Bay's John Tortorella tied Bob Johnson for the most NHL wins by an Amercian-born coach with 234.
Michel Ouellet and Alexandre Picard also had power-play goals for the Lightning, who had lost five in a row. Mike Smith made 23 saves.
Alex Steen and Jason Blake had the Toronto goals, while Vesa Toskala stopped 24 shots. The Maple Leafs moved within five points of eighth place Philadelphia in the Eastern Conference.
Blue Jackets 3, Canucks 2, OT
VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) - Jason Chimera scored in overtime and Columbus rallied from a two-goal third period deficit to beat Vancouver.
Andrew Murray and Rick Nash scored 70 seconds apart early in the third period to tie the game at 2. Vancouver was 23-0-0 when leading after two periods, but Chimera ended that streak when he drove hard to the net to deflect Nikolai Zherdev's centering pass over the outstretched pad of Roberto Luongo.
Sami Salo and Ryan Shannon scored and Luongo made 30 saves as Vancouver blew a third period lead for the second straight game.
Wild 3, Panthers 2
SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) - Mikko Koivu, Stephane Veilleux and Brent Burns scored and Minnesota beat Florida for the sixth straight time.
It was the sixth loss in seven games for the Panthers. The Wild won their second straight after snapping a four-game losing streak with a 3-2 win at Tampa Bay on Wednesday.
Niklas Backstrom stopped 32 shots for Minnesota, which leads the Northwest Division.
Steve Montador and Nathan Horton scored for Florida and Tomas Vokoun made 22 saves.
