Maple Leafs fall to Avs

Toronto lost 3-1 at home Wednesday night against Colorado to drop to 13-13-4 on the season. The Blues tied it at 1-1 with 7:18 left in the second period on a Zach Hyman goal assisted by Alexander Kerfoot and Cody Ceci. The Avalanche scored twice in the third period to take control for good. Frederik Anderson surrendered two goals on 29 shots in the losing effort.

Blues shut out by Penguins

St. Louis lost by a 3-0 score Wednesday night at Pittsburgh to drop to 18-6-6 on the season. The Penguins scored once in each period to send the Blues to the defeat. St. Louis registered 28 shots on goal with David Perron leading the way with four shots. Zach Sanford and Robert Thomas contributed three shots apiece. Jordan Binnington allowed three goals in 33 shots in the loss.

NHL Betting Trends

The Maple Leafs are 16-35 in their last 51 games as an underdog. Toronto is 4-9 in its last 13 road games.

St. Louis

The Blues are 4-1 in their last five games overall. St. Louis is 5-2 in its last seven games versus the Eastern Conference.

Prediction:

The Maple Leafs have struggled on the road and are one of the most disappointing teams in the NHL so far this season. Against the defending Stanley Cup champions who have mostly been playing solid hockey the last several weeks, I don’t like their chances. With Binnington in goal, take the hosts tonight.
